Pre Inoculated Pink Oyster Grow Bag Instructions
🍄 Pink Oyster Grow Bag – Quick Guide
1. Placement & Temperature 🌡️
-
Keep the bag in a bright spot with indirect light (no direct sun).
-
Ideal temperature: 65–75°F (18–24°C) for fruiting.
-
Avoid drafts, heaters, or AC vents.
2. Check for Contaminations Before Fruiting 🧐
-
Healthy mycelium: bright white and even across the substrate ✅
-
Green patches (like moss) → often mold ❌
-
Black or dark spots → bacterial or mold contamination ❌
-
Slimy or foul-smelling areas → bacterial contamination ❌
-
If you see these, isolate the bag and do not fruit or eat 🚫
3. Preparing to Fruit ✂️
-
Once the bag shows full white mycelium and small pinheads forming, cut open the bag 1 inch above the substrate level. Cut all the way around, leaving one side uncut so it stays attached. The bag should resemble a hoodie (3 of 4 sides open).
4. Fresh Air & Humidity 💨💧
-
Pink oysters need high humidity (85–95%) and plenty of fresh air to form healthy caps.
-
Mist around the bag lightly 1–2 times daily (do not soak). 🌫️
-
If the air is dry, use a humidity tent or place the bag inside a clean tote with ventilation holes. 🏕️
5. Harvesting ✨
-
Harvest when the caps are fully open and edges are just starting to flatten but before they curl upward.
-
Twist or cut clusters off at the base with a clean knife. 🔪
6. After First Harvest 🔄
-
Keep misting and maintaining temperature/humidity for a possible second flush.
⚠️ Food Safety Note:
Always thoroughly cook your mushrooms before eating to reduce the risk of food-borne illness—just as you would with pork or beef. 🍳
